A Rant and Rules encore

.. its called courtesy

You can certainly tell people are getting more relaxed about getting out in public, despite the COVID D variant that is "raging" all around us. So time for an encore of one of my previous rants from my old site's Rant and Rules:

  1. If you know your exit is coming up, go ahead merge into that exiting lane. Pay no attention to those cars zipping past you in the other lanes, they are not going where you are. You are not more important than those people in front of you patiently awaiting their turn to exit, nor are you more important than anyone in the fast lane with different destinations. Plan ahead!
  2. Use your damned turn signal when turning or changing lanes, that's what its made for! It is not NASCAR, and we're not out there to trade paint.
  3. Turn signals usage is not an invitation to race, if there is ample room between you and the car in front of you, then just let them change lanes. It is not an insult to your status or position in life, its called courtesy.
  4. For goodness sakes, put something down, you can't drive while eating a Kolache, drinking your coffee while sending a text message, and putting on your makeup, or shaving. Plan ahead, get up a few minutes earlier and do it before you leave the house.
  5. Pay attention, stop lights are not the time to discipline your offspring, play with your phones or whatever else it is that you are doing, eventually the light turns green, and we all have places to go besides waiting around for you.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to courtesy. It is a simple concept, be considerate of the drivers around you. If you are such a self aggrandizing idiot that you feel you are better than everyone else out there in traffic, then do us all a favor and just stay home, or hire a professional driver and make yourself feel really important.

Its all about courtesy

Courtesy is as much a mark of a gentleman as courage.
