'Kegger' Intake Mod

Intake upgrade for my 1994 Ram 2500 5.9L 360 Magnum V8 4WD

After several months of procrastinating, afternoons with a die grinder, Dremel, and Pneumatic mini belt sander, the "Kegger" intake Mod is finally done. The "Kegger" intake is a factory plenum style intake. This basically means that it holds a large volume of air inside. This air comes into the intake through the throttle body, then into runners that then feed air into the cylinders on each intake stroke. Like most of the Gen 2 Dodge Rams, this one suffered from the plenum design flaw. This particular intake is made from aluminum and has a steel belly pan that bolts on to from the plenum. Since aluminum and steel expand at different rates, the gasket on the belly pan will eventually fail creating a vacuum leak that can suck oil into the intake plenum from the valley between the heads. Since the plenum repair was in the cards, I decided to purchase a used intake on Ebay, and try my hand at hacking one of these "Keggers" myself. I also purchased a plenum fix kit from Hughes Engines HUG 7720FEL (Repair kit w/ Felpro Gasket Set)

The modification includes the removal of the divider between the banks, and trimming back the runners to improve the airflow at the mid to upper RPM range. Combined with adding some Flowtech 91940-1FLT Shorty Smog Headers from Amazon and a true dual header back exhaust system has breathed new life into this 27 year old truck.
