Now I just hate to go into our local Verizon Wireless store anymore, you can’t seem to get in the door without someone trying to latch on to you and sell you everything in the store. And, when you politely tell them that you are just looking around, they seem almost insulted.

The reason for the visit was to find a new wall charger for one of the boys. It seems during one of the moves from the house, to the hotel and then finally the travel trailer, a wall charger got misplaced. Now this phone is not really that old, maybe 9 mos. max, but Verizon doesn’t stock any parts for it anymore. Since it’s not in their lineup anymore, they just stop stocking accessories for it. Of course, every 2 or 3 minutes, some sale person would interrupt my browsing, and wouldn’t leave me alone. Finding nothing I wanted, needed, or reasonably priced, I decided to try my luck online.

Amazon to the rescue…A quick search for Samsung Intensity, and for a little over two bucks each, I found not only the wall charger, but car charger and a siliconized hard phone case, all for about 6 bucks (the case was 88 cents). A single generic charger at Verizon is 19 bucks.

I also needed a rapid car charger for my phone. I found the OEM car charger for my HTC Thunderbolt, which was 5 bucks cheaper than the garbage chargers that Verizon will sell you. I’ve never had any luck with a car charger purchase from Verizon. First of all, they are not rapid chargers, and they do not last very long. I always opt for the OEM chargers whenever possible.

So for about the price of a single generic charger, I received a wall charger, 2 car chargers, and a phone case. You can’t beat that, ad using the standard shipping, I would have spent the same amount of money for gas just to get to the Verizon Store,

Inks Lake looks pretty in the dark. We arrived after the Park Closed, and no sites were set aside for us. Given the fact we are a youth organization, you would think the Park Service would snap to. assigning us sites together Fortunately the camping gods were good to us this weekend.

Godless Google is at it again…

Its funny how Google will post some cutesy little graphic for almost any occasion, as a matter of fact, they are known for it. But I guess since this is a Christian holiday, it must not fit the Godless pinko commies at Google’s agenda. I have finally had enough of Google. From Google bombs, Googlewashing, censorship and politically motivated Adsense ad withdrawals, I’m done with Google. The final straw came this past weekend when I noticed that the Google doodle had not changed to reflect the Easter holiday. Now, I wasn’t expecting some depiction of the crucification, it is Google after all. But no bunnies, eggs, or baskets. So I did some research, while they will commemorate the Soviet Sputnik, they take a pass on Memorial Day, D-Day, and many other American patriotic holidays.

There’s nothing new here, even you libs will admit that Google is liberal. In 2005 alone $463,500 was given to Democrats by Google management and employees, while $5,000 was given to Republicans, (or 100 to 1 for those of you from Lake Jackson). They spend their money on “socially progressive corporations” and “influencing public policy,” code words for liberal agenda.

So, I have dropped Adsense, the Google sitemap plugin, the gvisit tracker plugin, and now even Feedburner, a recent Google acquisition. I have changed all the search engines in the house, and the office PC’s to Windows Live, and I host my on RSS feeds. We are now Google free. I even took the bookmarks and search engine off my Blackberry.

The prevelance of Google in the market place is staggering, from Google Earth, StreetView, Maps, GMail etc., and the fact that 60% of all searches are through the Google search engine, the amount of data they have access to is frightening. Nefarious? well you be the judge…

Global warming…

Global warming has finally come to Houston and … it snowed. yep, big fluffy flakes of snow fell yesterday afternoon. Must be all of that CO2 we are releasing from the coal fired power plants and refineries in the area. Yeh, that must be it…

Meanwhile, it never got above freezing the whole day.
